Rest & Relaxation Session

Join us for an introduction to the Art of Deep and Health Giving Rest. During our time together you will be guided through some gentle movement into the restorative space of Deep and Health Giving Rest in the practice of nourishing Yoga Nidra, sound, poetry and story. All finished off with tea and treats. 

Noela, a qualified Pilates and Yoga coach, though now retired, is passionate about rest - pure and constructive rest. She will offer a space to understand how and why rest is of the utmost importance. 

In order to get the most of your rest, you need to be as cosy and comfortable as possible. Therefore, please bring blankets, pillows, cosy jumpers or whatever you have to make the most out of your experience. Yoga mats will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Get wrapped up and join us for a winter wander, starting at Endcliffe Park before making our way out towards the Mayfield Valley with a hot drink stop at Forge Dam cafe to warm up. A chance to walk, chat and hopefully spot the local heron!

Watercolour DreamScapes Workshop

Escape reality for the morning and join Rosie for the enchanting process of watercolour painting. Using storytelling to guide our imaginations, we will explore new worlds and bring them to life using watercolour paints.

During the session we will

- Connect with each other and our imagination through storytelling.

- Learn watercolour techniques.

- Create a unique watercolour DreamScape to take home

You will be guided by Rosie, an Artist and Art Therapist who used art making as a tool for self discovery. The theme of the session is not rigid and you are free to use the art materials to make whatever you’d like in the time and Rosie is still there to support you through your art making.

No experience of art making is needed. Hot drinks provided.

Join artist Liah Edwardes and the Bloom team for an evening of drawing flowers from life, explore playful mark-making techniques and experiment with a variety of materials to bring fresh, creative energy to your drawings. This hands-on session will inspire you to capture the essence of flowers in dynamic and expressive ways. 

Bloom's florist, Erin, will be doing a vase arrangement demonstration, based on the Dutch masters paintings and this will inspire your drawing and creativity.

Join us for a practical morning of fruit tree pruning where you can come and help us prune and maintain our fruit trees at Big Bloom. No experience needed - just a willingness to get stuck in!

If you have them, please bring along a sharp pair of secateurs, loppers, a pruning saw and a pair of rubber grip gardening gloves. Tools and gloves will be provided if you don’t have your own. Make sure to wrap up warm.

Introduction to Natural Weaving & Foraging Walk

Come and join us for a creative morning of natural weaving. Get creative and join us for a walk through the woods, gather and process natural materials, learn to make string and weave yourself a hanging for inside or outside.

We will be walking through Cat Lane Woods to collect our natural materials ad then heading back to Big Bloom, our community garden, to practice weaving and making string. Warm drinks and refreshments are provided, but please make sure you wrap up warm as this is an outdoor event. 

This session will be facilitated by Charlie Hill - an outdoor artist and facilitator. Charlie has worked in communities across South Yorkshire for over 12 years and her work explores ways to connect to nature and each other through creativity and bushcraft.

Winter Wellbeing Run

Join Alice for a fun and invigorating run around Bingham Park, which will boost your mood and provide an opportunity to embrace the great outdoors during the colder months.

We will meet at the entrance to Bingham Park that is located at the junction of Oakbrook and Rustlings Road before setting off on a gentle 5km run along paths and trails. After the run is complete, we will head to a nearby cafe for coffee and pastries!

This activity is suitable for all levels and is designed to be a welcoming and inclusive experience. The pace will be adjusted to the ability of the group and we will take plenty of walking breaks if needed. If you have any concerns prior to the event, please get in touch.

Remember to wear clothes and footwear that is suitable for the activity and weather conditions, and bring a water bottle.

Come and join us for a cosy, festive evening of wreath making at Marmadukes - The Sorting Office and The Mowbray. You will learn how to make your own winter wreath for your door with expert guidance and demonstrations from our tutors. All materials are included along with mince pies and mulled wine.

These workshops are all about having fun and being creative and are perfect for novice and seasoned wreath makers alike. Bring some pals and get together for a fun, relaxed evening to help get you in the festive spirit!

We are running five workshops, so you can choose to your date and ideal venue. We will be at Marmadukes - The Sorting Office and at The Mowbray in Kelham Island.

It's that time of year again when all of our dahlias need digging up at our production garden at Wortley Hall Walled Garden and tucking into their winter beds. This will be a hands on morning of digging and cleaning tubers - very satisfying but make sure you bring your waterproofs and sturdy shoes.

This event will be held at our community garden for women. These sessions are all about giving gardening a go and meeting new people - no experience necessary just a willingness to get stuck in and get a bit muddy! Tea, biscuits and friendly faces always available.

Join us at Big Bloom - our community garden at Heeley & Meersbrook Allotments for a day filled with apple related fun! We will be pressing apples from our community orchard, have delicious treats and warm drinks to enjoy, and you can bring your family and friends to enjoy a lovely day in our community garden. All welcome.

Bring a bottle to take some juice home and come and help us chop apples and squeeze them into juice.

Once per month, our flower shop will be hosting a relaxed drop-in workshop where you will be given a mixed bucket of locally grown flower stems for you to play with!

Our in-house florist will be on hand to teach you anything you would like to know whether that's, bouquet making, flower crowns, buttonholes, arranging in a vase - literally anything! And you will get to leave with your wonderful creation and hopefully some new skills!

Each class will be unique to the people in the space. However, a rhythm of gentle opening, easeful movement, mindfulness and breath awareness will be followed throughout.

Rebecca encourages students to come to class with an open mind and an expectation to understand and feel your subtle body and movements intentionally. Rebecca aims to help you find a way to make yoga work for you, rather than straining to make your body fit into a consumer driven assumption of yoga.

This class is for women and non-binary people. We are a trans-inclusive organisation.

This event is in our Winter Wellbeing programme and is available on a pay-as-you-can basis. This is to ensure that everyone can access activities that make them feel good, without money being a barrier. How To Grow a Flower Garden - 6 Week Course

We are delivering a schedule of seasonal horticulture and floristry workshops to help you get the most from your garden. This programme of events is aimed at beginners and for those who want to leanr about the foundations of growing flowers. Each session will be practical and hands-on and will allow you to get stuck in. The monthly break down is as follows:

  • Thursday 21st March 6.30pm-7.30pm - Get To Know Your Flowers Talk at TONCO Bakery

This session will help you identify the aims of your growing space and introduce you to the main plants and flowers that you can grow.

  • Saturday 13th April 10am - 12:30pm - Sowing Seeds at Bloom's Community Garden

Practising different methods of seed sowing and which seeds to sow now.

  • Sunday 9th June 10am-1pm- Cutting, Conditional and Arranging at TONCO Bakery

We will be teaching you how to cut flowers correctly and how to condition the stems. You will also be creating a hand-tied bouquet with guidance and tutorage from our in-house florist.

  • Sunday 21st July 10am - 12pm - How To Create a Vase Arrangement at TONCO Bakery

We will teach you how to create vase arrangements that can be used in any vase that you have at home.

  • Sunday 29th September 10am - 12pm - Bulb Planting and Dahlia Dividing at Bloom's Community Garden
    You will learn how to plant bulbs for a maximum yield and how to lift, divide and store dahlias over the winter.

  • Sunday 27th October Seed Saving and Drying Flowers 10am - 12pm - Location weather dependant.

We will be learning all about different techniques or drying flowers and how to save seeds. This session will be focused around biodiversity and growing an environmentally friendly garden.
