Come and connect with nature through nature based crafts and activities, and create friendships within the parenting community.

We deliver two groups a week - Bloom Seedlings for Mums & babies and Bloom Saplings for Mums & toddlers.

Join us at Big Bloom, our community garden at Heeley & Meersbrook Allotments which is home to an orchard, woodland, planted beds and plenty of space to relax, explore and play.

  • Bloom Saplings - An outdoor group for mums and toddlers

    Join us at Big Bloom, our community garden at Meersbrook and Heeley Allotments which is home to an orchard, woodland, planted beds and plenty of space to relax, explore and play.

    Enjoy a child led learning environment in nature where you can embrace the outdoors in all seasons and all weathers. We have free play areas set up around the garden for you and your toddler to explore together including the mud kitchen, pond, cosy story corner, digging pit and calming sensory area to name but a few. Each session will also have varied activities influenced by the seasons, weather, stories and songs!

  • Bloom Seedlings An outdoor group for mums and babies from newborn up to pre-walking

    Join us at Big Bloom, our community garden at Heeley & Meersbrook Allotments which is home to an orchard, woodland, planted beds and plenty of space to relax, explore and play. These sessions focus on the safe introduction to outdoor play from an early age, where both babies and caregivers can enjoy the mental and physical health benefits of being outside.

    Come and connect with nature through nature based crafts and activities, and create friendships within the parenting community. Build your confidence to safely spend time with your baby outdoors and experience all the sensory delights that exploring the outdoors brings.

FAQs

  • We will meet you at the gate to Meersbrook and Heeley Allotments at Carfield Place, S8 9JA 10 minutes before your session is due to start. We will take the short walk through the allotments together to the garden.

  • Off-road pushchairs should easily handle the allotment tracks and can be left just inside the community garden, but slings may be useful for moving around the garden itself if required.

  • On site we have a composting toilet, potty and plenty of space for alfresco nappy changes. We will provide hot/cold drinks and snacks. We also have a small indoor space for shelter if needed.

  • To ensure that you enjoy and get the most out of these sessions, please ensure both you and your little ones come prepared for all weathers with plenty of layers, waterproofs and sturdy footwear.

  • Sessions will take place in all weathers unless deemed unsafe as a result of high winds and thunderstorms.

    In the case that Bloom needs to cancel a session due to unsafe conditions, we will communicate this via the email address you provided when booking tickets.

  • We cannot make any refunds up to 10 days before the group block begins.

    Once the block as begun, individual sessions are non-refundable. In the case that Bloom needs to cancel a session due to unsafe conditions, we will communicate this via the email address you provided when booking tickets.

  • A gentle reminder that the community garden is an old allotment site with areas of uneven ground and a pond. Please remember that the attending adults are responsible for their own children at all times.
