Join Us For Our Autumn Equinox Celebration
We have been so busy planning and preparing an Autumn Equinox Celebration this September! We are so excited to share with you all the amazing things we have planned and as always, all the money that we raise through our events and sales goes back into the garden and into helping us deliver mental health gardening groups and open days for women in our community. We are a not-for-profit organisation so we rely on the kindness and generosity of our community to keep us going and keep us being able to open our flower garden for everyone to use and benefit from.
Sunday 19th September 10am - 12pm
Calendula Massage Oil Workshop
Are you in need of some extra nourishment and TLC as we move in to Autumn? Join Medical Herbalist and Naturopath, Abby Prendergast, to learn how to create your own bespoke herbal massage oil!
Come and be inspired by the wonders of plant-based medicine and discover the medicinal qualities of some of our well-known local herbs, with a special focus on Calendula which will make up the base of our oil infusion.
Together we’ll be creating our own beautiful massage oil, with flowers lovingly grown and harvested straight from the Bloom Sheffield Garden. You’ll then be able to add your own final touches, especially tailored to you! Expect a relaxed and nurturing morning of learning and fun with enchanting scents to uplift and inspire you! Each participant will also receive their own special apothecary bottle to bring their oil home in to enjoy or to gift to a loved one!
Saturday 25th September
Willow Weaving Flower Trug Workshop
We are so excited to welcome weaving extraordinaire, Rachel, to the Bloom garden. She will be teaching us a variety of modern and traditional willow weaving techniques and guiding us through making our own flower trugs that you will take home at the end of the session and use for years to come. All equipment and tuition is included along with light refreshments. This will be a small group, so there will be lots of opportunities to ask questions as you learn.
You will need to wear suitable clothing and footwear for working outdoors in this season. Steel toe cap boots would be advantageous if you have them, but are not essential. Light refreshments are included but please bring a packed lunch and water bottle. Please note this course will require a good level of manual dexterity on your fingers.
Sunday 26th September 10am - 1pm
Autumn Jump-Starter Open Day - Sowing Hardy Annuals For Next Spring
Join Kendall for a special Open Day showing you how to get ahead with growing flowers for your garden or cutting patch. We will take you through the best way to sow hardy annuals to give you a great early crop next year. We will also cover basic flower growing/gardening techniques, so join us if you’d like a relaxed introduction to flower growing.
We will cover how to prick out and pot on, how and why sowing seed in the autumn for spring planting is very different from sowing in the spring for summer flowers and which flowers to sow at this time of year. Tea, coffee and snacks included.
Wednesday 15th September
