Mural Painting

Ever since we got our hands on our community garden, I have been keen to paint a mural on the black brick wall of the middle building that faces outwards towards the flowers. We obviously had much more pressing jobs to attend to first, mainly clearing the weeds and creating somewhere for flowers to grow! But that wall was always in the back of my mind. Then Grace came along. We got chatting and she told me she was a mural painter and that she would be happy to volunteer her time to make our garden that extra bit more colourful. I was so happy and grateful for her kind offer and sent her off with a brief - colourful, fun and welcoming! Grace came back to me with an amazing design that suited us so well.

We enlisted the help of our community of creative women to help Grace with the task of painting. It was such a wonderful day of collaboration and teamwork. Grace said “everyone did really well- they were great painters!” We had 15 different women help with painting this magnificent mural and we couldn’t be happier with the way it has turned out.

You can check out more of Grace’s amazing work on her website.

Thank you to Grace and for all the volunteers for giving us your time, enthusiasm and talents. We really appreciate it! I just wish we had more walls to paint!
