Where Your Money Goes...

Bloom Sheffield is a social enterprise, which means we are a business with a social mission! We aim to provide a safe space for women to come to together, learn new things, form relationships and feel good - both mentally and physically. We are a not-for-profit organisation, so all of the money we raise goes back into the garden and into helping us deliver our groups and open days. Currently, all of our team are volunteers. We are applying to funders to pay for certain positions in the garden, but this is not where money from commercial sales goes.

Every time you buy flowers, bulbs, wreaths, or make a donation you are helping us keep going. Here are some of the things we spend money on at Bloom.

  • Rent and Bills
All pretty boring but very necessary for an organisation to keep going. We don’t get any concessions from the council for our rent, so we pay full price each year.

  • Gardening Equipment
All of our Open Days and gardening groups are free. This is to ensure that there are no economic barriers that inhibit women from attending. We use the money that we raise to buy everything you need to garden. From gloves, to spades and wheelbarrows, we need to have enough kit for people to use in the garden. We make sure we have a range of equipment so we can provide activities for a variety of people with differing needs.

  • Bulbs, Seeds and Plants
In order to run our groups and open days at Bloom, we need stuff to grow! When we took on the garden, it was completely overgrown so we started from the very bottom. Thanks to your kind donations and support, we have been able to buy the bulbs and seeds that we need to grow a productive and beautiful garden for our community to enjoy. These seeds provide opportunities for us to teach women about growing, gardening and horticulture and create positive activities for women to be involved in.

  • Refreshments
The fuel of our gardening groups! Your money helps us stay stocked up on tea and biscuits for all the women who we welcome into the garden.

Without your generosity and support, we would not be able to do what we do. We are so thankful for every purchase that is made!
