Bloom & the Gang - Samantha’s Story

Finding therapy in nature

“I really appreciated meeting other women and creating a supportive network – to connect and build on a real sense of community and togetherness.”

One of our Gardening To Feel Good attendees Samantha shares her experience of joining the Bloom community and finding therapy in nature.

I visited bloom to invest in my own wellbeing, and to give my time and energy into something I knew I’d enjoy. Before visiting Bloom I felt quite nervous, but I was instantly put at ease. When I arrived I had a chat with Emma, who was running the session. They really put my mind at ease and I quickly settled into the informal setting.

Connecting and building a community

The session was a really good pace, meaning I could soak it up and relax. I find being in nature extremely calming and good for the soul.

Being in a space created for women was also really nice – it felt like a really positive environment. I really appreciated meeting other women and creating a supportive network – to connect and build on a real sense of community and togetherness.

I visited Bloom not only to meet new people, but to find therapy in nature. I enjoy peaceful actions and moments, such as repetitive tasks. This meant focused tasks like deadheading flowers was a perfect task for me to sink myself into – alongside the enjoyment of being outdoors in general.

Is Bloom for you?

I’ve visited Bloom several times now and I always feel so positive after. I’ve even signed up for volunteering, which I’d encourage everyone to take a look at. I’ve recommended Bloom to my friends and would definitely stretch that recommendation out further!

Whether you’re looking to meet supportive, positive people or you want to learn more about plants and nature (or both!), you know you’ll be dedicating your time to be around like-minded people in a relaxing, open and welcoming space.
